Position Reports to: Vice-President
Term : Part-time
Salary: 40$/hour - Approximately 10 hours per week

The Maverick Volleyball Club serves Ottawa and its surrounding communities in providing our youth with high-quality volleyball programs. Our Club takes pride in our successful track record of promoting and fostering leadership, organizational, team, and life skills for the benefit of its members.
Job Summary
The Treasurer plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations and IT systems of Maverick Volleyball (including NFP programs). This position requires a detail-oriented and strategic individual with strong accounting and financial management skills who also understands the use and management of supporting IT systems. The Treasurer will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and the use of IT systems to maximize organizational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities include:
Strategic Planning
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Advise on financial implications of various initiatives and projects.
Information Technology
- Own the IT strategy for the club
- Lead the IT team in the management of all IT systems
Financial Management and accounting
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of the club.
- Manage cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
- Manage the finance team to ensure all accounting functions are completed, and accurate records are kept
Compliance and Controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local financial regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Prepare for and coordinate annual audits if required
Reporting
- Generate financial reports for the Board of Directors and management team
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and financial proposals.
Essential Qualifications
Experience
- 5-years of experience in accounting or financial management
- Experience in managing IT infrastructure
Competencies & Skills
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
- CPA or CMA certification is an asset
Language
- Bilingual (English, French)
